The £3 million turnkey contract offer to Relkin Construction, won in open competition against other national contractors, encompassed all site surveys, building permissions, design solutions on a particularly difficult site, a complete construction service and the inevitable protracted discussions and negotiations with the Airport Authority. Such an approach required minimum involvement from Monarch's senior management and therefore allowed us to concentrate our efforts into generating turnover through our routine commercial activities in order to finance the hanger development.
Monarch's confidence in Relkin was justified and rewarded when the project was completed within budget and ahead of schedule. Consequently, Monarch had no hesitation in retaining Relkin as property managers for their Manchester International Airport operation.
